Uhh no, I never said the journalists were incels. I said the myth was "fabricated as a result of overly presumptuous reporting, and then perpetuated by incels to justify violence against women who had simply rejected them." Presumptuous reporting that spreads false information is a major problem in our society, and it has many negative consequences. It's not constructive to pretend it's not a problem... It's important for journalists to acknowledge the mistakes they've made in the past so they don't repeat them.

If you don't want to read about incels, don't click on articles about them. As someone who studies cultural trends for a living, I think the incel phenomenon is worthy of close examination. I don't shy away from topics just because they're depressing. If you don't want to think about it, you don't have to. But I can't exactly escape the phenomenon when I'm incessantly being harassed by incels. I was harassed by them long before I started writing about them.
